S4 Highway
Hangzhou
Team Felixx + INBO has been selected as 1 of 4 teams to develop the masterplan for the transformation of the S4 Highway in Hangzhou, China!
The S4 highway runs from the Hangzhou Central Business District on the west bank of the Qiantang river to the airport in the east of the city. It connects the historical and the new Xiaoshan district center, the Xiasha high tech park, the conference center where the G20 was held last year, the 2022 Asian Games campus and the airport’s special economic zone.
The aim is to develop this zone into a strong economic backbone as the next step towards the ambition of the city to become an International Metropolis. The planning area is approximately 25km2, including a 500m zone on both sides of the 18km long S4 elevated highway. The kick-off meeting was held yesterday and the deadline for this stage is planned in the second week of October. Implementation is expected to start early 2018.
