Rijnvliet selected for Public Space 2024
Rijnvliet has been selected for the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2024
We are happy to announce that our Edible Neighborhood in Rijnvliet has been selected out of 297 submitted projects for the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2024! This prestigious biennial competition recognizes projects that create, recover, and improve public spaces in European cities.
Rijnvliet, an innovative residential neighborhood in Utrecht, is a remarkable example of participatory design. Initiated by local residents, this project transformed a vision of sustainable, community-focused living into reality.
The concept of an urban edible forest was embraced and developed in collaboration with the municipality and design experts. Felixx designed the public space to integrate Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), fostering a sustainable, resilient, and socially cohesive environment.
This recognition highlights the impact of participatory design and NbS in transforming public spaces and enhancing urban life. We are proud that the value of our project continues to be acknowledged!
