Rijnvliet, Edible Neighborhood

We are happy that our project 'Rijnvliet, Edible Neighborhood' is published in Bouwwereld Magazine (#03/2021). For this article Viveka van de Vliet interviewed Marnix Vink.
Food Forest
Recently we have been very busy planting trees so the Rijnvliet district will soon be the "edible neighborhood" of Utrecht: besides houses and a school, the public space will have a 150,000m2 food forest with edible trees, shrubs and herbs.
“In the Netherlands, this is an exceptional project in which a new emerging form of urban agriculture offers enormous opportunities for making our cities more sustainable.”
Food Forest Rijnvliet - The Edible Neighborhood is an initiative of Stichting de Groene Longen van Rijnvliet & Metaalkathedraal and a collaboration with Utrecht municipality, De Zwarte Hond architects, Æ Food Forestry Development and Van Wijk, Nieuwegein.
