Felixx' Catalogue of Nature-Based Solutions launched at COP26
A Catalogue of Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Resilience
We are honored and excited that our Catalogue of Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Resilience was launched at COP26! The catalogue was commissioned by the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR).
An integral version of the catalogue can be downloaded from the World Bank’s Open Knowledge Repository.
More than half of the world's population lives in cities, and that number is rising every day. Urban areas are becoming more crowded, reducing green space and causing loss of biodiversity. ‘Nature-Based Solutions’ are an effective way to turn these effects around and improve the resilience to climate change effects in our cities.
The catalogue has been developed as a guidance document to support the growing demand for NBS by enabling an initial identification of potential investments in nature-based solutions. The catalogue looks into ways to mitigate multiple climate-change related hazards in the urban environment, with particular emphasis on flood management and heat stress mitigation.
“Integrating NBS in complex urban settings can be transformational for communities. However, it is not easy and requires the right knowledge and tools at the right time. The NBS catalogue with its strong landscape architecture designs is such a tool that can bring inspiration, examples and implementation guidance for cities globally” – Brenden Jongman, GFDRR, World Bank
