Urgent global challenges: Protective Landscapes
Protective landscapes can help cities adapt to climate change. Research investigates how protective measures can be devised and implemented in each particular location in response to a particular set of circumstances; how local resources can be mobilized to build feasible solutions, and what additional advantages can be derived from the design. Our experience ranges from research projects, policy & planning, towards strategy development and implementation of protective landscapes

New approaches to public space design for cities: Structuring Landscapes
Structuring landscapes are used to give coherent identity to an urban environment and create multiple additional benefits. Research examines how public spaces such as streets, squares and other forms of public realm frame architecture, create a sense of identity and belonging. In our projects we look at urban morphology, mobility and the neighbourhood dynamics as the starting point. Structuring pubic realm can be used as a catalyst for urban transformation and creation of a more distinct identity

Our human (re-)connection with nature: Healing Landscapes
Healing landscapes capitalize on the profound connection of humans to nature and the healing potential of both nature and social interaction.  Due to Covid and the newly discovered value of open space these types of environments are in high demand now.

Whether it is a city park, a green city escape, a learning landscape or an entire edible neighborhood, healing spaces emerge at the intersection of landscape design, engineering and social work. They have a positive effect on the body by promoting sports and active recreation and direct benefits for public health.
