NATIONAL PUBLIC SPACE MANAGEMENT CONGRESS

Coming Thursday March 30th, Felixx' partner Michiel van Driessche will be speaking at the National Public Space Management Congress. In a joint session with Joyce van den Berg, Municipality of Amsterdam, he discusses the design guideline for public space for the municipality of Groningen and the Amsterdam integrated design method. The New Space design guideline was approved in 2021 by the Groningen city council and represents the next step in the development of a future-proof public space. New Space proposes a design method in which mobility is no longer normative, but in which accessibility, safety, experience, health, social interaction, ecology, climate adaptation, economy and cultural history together make the street. By naming these ten dimensions at the start, a new balance is created between all these interests. The cases of the Amsterdam integrated design method and the Groningen design guideline Public space show that bringing design and management together is necessary for the area development of cities. Participants in the session will gain insight into the two methods, what are the benefits and what is needed for this?
