Felixx is hosting tours Rijnvliet, our neighborhood of the future, as part of the 11th edition of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR). Under the title Nature of Hope, this edition of IABR focuses on nature, culture and hope from an architectural point of view to make a social change. Are you ready to experience Rijnvliet and the positive impacts it has for the community? rijnvliet Rijnvliet Edible Neighbourhood is a unique, new residential area in Utrecht, Netherlands. The layout of Rijnvliet is co-designed with local residents as an edible, educative landscape consisting a 15ha food forest with more than a thousand trees and 220 different species of edible plants, herbs and shrubs. The neighbourhood is created to sustain forestry and food production, providing multiplicity of uses for all generations and unique access to nature. Rijnvliet’s participatory design, food forest, and climate-adaptive designs contribute to healthier food choices, increased biodiversity and a strong sense of community. about iabr The IABR 2024 will take place from 29 June to 13 October 2024 and will focus on a combination of hope and nature. This choice stems from the recognition that everything begins with the Earth and that our exploitation – or rather, depletion – of the Earth, each other, and the living world is leading to multiple ecological and social crises. As humans, we can no longer place ourselves above or at a distance from nature and nor do we wish to. How can we put the knowledge and practices of spatial design at the service of the planet and all the creatures that live on it?
